Falcao Can Fire Manchester United To Title Glory Says Former Striker

The Red Devils spent nearly £150 million on transfers this summer.

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke thinks his old club can win the Premier League after signing Radamel Falcao, Sky Sports reports.

United stunned the football world last night by signing the Columbian striker on a season long loan. Both Manchester City and Arsenal had been linked with Falcao but the Red Devils beat them to it.

Yorke thinks by signing Falcao and Angel Di Maria, United have brought themselves into contention to win the Premier League title, despite the poor start the Red Devils have endured in the Premier League so far this season.

“With the team the manager is building, I believe it is good enough to go and win the Premier League,” the former United striker told Sky Sports News HQ.

“They are playing catch-up at this moment and they need to start getting results now, but if they can do that the confidence will generate and when that builds up you’ve seen what they’ve done in the past. There is no doubt in my mind Manchester United could go on to win the league from here”.

Yorke is especially impressed with the signing of Falcao, who he believes is currently the best striker in the world.

“Falcao is a number nine, the ultimate number nine,” he said. “You look at his goalscoring record and he’s a phenomenal striker. He’s not interested in link-up play, he just knows how to hit the back of the net. He’s the best goalscorer in the world right now.”

The signing of Falcao has excited many United fans but there have been worries from some quarters that the 28 year old’s arrival will anger Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie. However, Yorke doesn’t think there will be a problem.

“Of course we’ve got Rooney and Van Persie at the club, but these players could drop in behind or play left or right of him. I don’t see that being a problem. These players are all tremendous players.”
