The defender is a key part of Manchester United’s defence.
Phil Jones is to have his hamstring injury assessed this afternoon with the defender possibly set for a spell on the sidelines, the Metro reports.
The 22 year old was substituted after 77 minutes of England’s game against Switzerland, which the Three Lions won 2-0.
Any long term injury to Jones could cause chaos for Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal with his squad lacking in quality central defenders due to the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand during the summer.
Although United did sign Marcos Rojo during the transfer window, the Red Devils are still short in defence.
Youth team player Tyler Blackett has started all of the Red Devils league matches so far this season and although the youngster has shown potential, van Gaal would not want to rely on him for a large part of the season.
Rojo looks set to make his debut in United’s Premier League match against QPR on Sunday. He could line-up alongside fellow new arrivals Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind.
Van Gaal will hope that all three play alongside Jones, who is set to be an integral part of the Dutchman’s defence as long as he stays fit.
