Man United may have spent £150m on new signings over the summer but apparently that massive outlay will not prevent Louis van Gaal from making a January move for two world-class talents according to the Daily Star.

Van Gaal saw Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind excel on their respective Man United debuts against QPR on Sunday whilst Angel di Maria wowed the fans on his first outing in front of the Old Trafford faithful and if the Dutch boss has his way two more new-boys will be in place before too long.

The Premier League side will look to sign German defensive rock Mats Hummels with van Gaal ordering chief executive Ed Woodward to bring in the £25m rated Borussia Dortmund man.

On Sunday van Gaal paired younster Tyler Blackett and Jonny Evans in the centre of his defence and clearly a move for Hummels would be a huge improvement in that regard.

Van Gaal also continues to court AS Roma’s Kevin Strootman and will launch a £25m bid for the Dutch midfield maestro in January.

Strootman is a player van Gaal hopes to field in the centre of his starting eleven, acting as a strong combative force that is able to both repel opposition advances as well as forcing his way into the final third as and when necessary.

Though currently out with a long term knee injury the 24 year old is expecting to be back in action by December.
