Melbourne Victory manager Kevin Muscat says he is hopeful of bringing in a new addition to the squad before his side jets off to Tasmania next week.

Victory signed Sydney-born Macedonia international Daniel Georgievski from Romanian powerhouse Steaua Bucharest last week, and Muscat is hopeful of making another signing over the coming week.

The club is yet to cover for the loss of left-back Adama Traore, who departed for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Vitoria Guimarães at the end of last season.

“I went on record a couple of weeks back that we still have a couple of spots left and I’ll only add to the group if I thought it was gonna make us better,” Muscat was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo Australia.

“We are active and we have been working diligently away from the training ground.

“Hopefully we get the opportunity to bring someone in before we go to Tasmania in 10 days time.”
