Reports in Spain are now suggesting that he will pen a four-year deal with the La Liga outfit until 2019.
It had been claimed that the Red Devils were in pole position to land Perez after Valencia refused to meet his £23m release clause, but it now appears that the Portuguese champions have agreed to a lower offer.
The deal will likely be confirmed at the end of the week and will come as a huge blow to Louis Van Gaal’s ambitions, who had hoped to bring the Argentine international on board to play on the right-hand side of his midfield diamond.
