Perhaps the most sought after defender in world football, Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels is the other player in van Gaal’s wish list, with the German’s stock not having fallen at all despite his side’s Bundesliga struggles, that saw them enter the winter break ensconced in the relegation zone. Powerful as well as being classy on the ball, Hummels certainly looks set to leave Signal Iduna Park in the near future, with van Gaal desperate to ensure that Old Trafford is his destination.
