China ‘keeper Wang Delai can thank a 12-year-old Brisbane boy for his penalty save against Saudi Arabia.

A 12-year-old Brisbane ball boy has become an unexpected hero of Chinese football after helping them to an Asian Cup win over Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Stephen White was invited to train with the Chinese team as a reward for his advice on the weekend.

The youngster China goalkeeper Wang Dalei a tip as he prepared to face a penalty.

As the Saudi Arabia player stepped up to take the penalty, Dalei asked White which way he should dive.

The youngster said left, to which Dalei duly obliged and incredibly saved the spot kick.

China went on to win the game 1-0.
