Arsene Wenger is interested in the defensive midfielder…
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed a defiant stance on the possibility of selling Arsenal and Inter Milan target Mario Suarez, reports the Express.
The 44-year-old has said that he has no interest in letting the Spaniard go, but that the final decision lies with the directors at Atleti. This will give some hope to the Gunners of signing the player, with manager Arsene Wenger in dire need of a defensive midfielder at the moment.
27-year-old Suarez has been a key part of the team at the Calderon in recent years, helping them to unlikely successes such as becoming La Liga champions and getting to the final of the Champions League. He also has two caps for the Spain national team.
However, the arrival of Inter Milan to the race to sign the midfielder will not be welcome news for the North London club. The Italians could drive the price up, or even manage to sign the player from under the Gunners’ noses.
