Jurgen Klopp has signaled his intention to leave the Westfalenstadion at the end of the season and as such the Bundesliga side may well be vulnerable to approaches for their top talents and Louis van Gaal has been chasing Hummels for months.
The Dutch manager is looking to re-shuffle his defensive pack and as well as moving for the 26 year old World Cup winner van Gaal is also keen to bring in Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Atletico Madrid battler Diego Godin according to the Daily Star.
Hummels helped Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final but over the past couple of campaigns the former Bayern Munich man has seen Dortmund fall a country mile behind their domestic rivals and as such may feel the time is right for a fresh challenge.
