The player in question is Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who has been in superb form in the Premier League this season and is surely set for a move to a bigger club after attracting plenty of interest.
The 25-year-old would make an ideal signing for Arsenal in that problem position of defensive midfield, with the Gunners short of options in that position after disappointing seasons from injury-prone pair Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere.
Still, Tottenham have also been chasing Schneiderlin, who appears to have rejected them in favour of holding out for a bigger move, according to the Daily Star.
This could see Arsenal move into pole position to land the French international after months of speculation surrounding his future at the St Mary’s Stadium.
