Latest reports suggest the 22-year-old starlet has penned a four year contract with Bundesliga side Mainz, with a move now likely to go through when the transfer window officially opens for business.

Muto had caught Chelsea’s eye in recent months, with speculation that Jose Mourinho was keen to add this promising talent to his squad for next season, though perhaps the promise of first-team football elsewhere has swayed the player’s decision to snub an offer from the Premier League champions.

According to the Daily Star, a move for Muto to move to Mainz is all but done, leaving Chelsea to ponder other options in the transfer market this summer as they look to continue building a squad that can dominate in every competition.
