Blues keen to win race for Gunners target.

Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Brazilian club Internacional over a move to sign in-demand Chilean midfielder Charles Aranguiz this summer, reports the Daily Star.

Additional information from the Daily Mail suggests that Arsenal and Manchester City are also monitoring the Copa America star’s situation, with the player really catching the eye for the host nation this summer as he helped his side win the tournament, starring alongside big names like Gunners ace Alexis Sanchez and Juventus’ Arturo Vidal.

Chelsea already have plenty of options in midfield, but the Star says that Nigerian defensive player John Obi Mikel could be offloaded if Aranguiz is brought in, with the player’s exit set to help the Blues find more money to pay their potential new signing’s wages.

The Premier League champions have good relations with Internacional after signing Brazilian playmaker Oscar from them back in the summer of 2012, and that could give them some edge in this deal for Aranguiz.

The 26-year-old is an energetic box-to-box player with an eye for goal, who also impressed for his country at last summer’s World Cup, scoring in the shock 2-0 win over Spain in the group stages.

Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen are also mentioned by the Mail as possible contenders for Aranguiz, though he would surely favour a move to a bigger club like Chelsea.
