Tottenham’s plans for new season thrown into turmoil as they return home just 24 hours before Man United clash

Tottenham‘s preparations for the new Barclays Premier League season have taken a huge setback as their plans to fly home early ahead of their 12.45pm kick-off against Manchester United at the weekend were thwarted, Mirror Sport reports.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted the squad to fly back to England on Wednesday evening following their 2-0 victory over Serie A giants AC Milan in their final game of pre-season in the Audi Cup, however, German officials blocked those plans and they will now have to stay in Munich until Friday.

This leaves the North London outfit with the prospect of rushing back to the UK as they are pencilled in to kick-off the 2015-16 season against United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

On a brighter note, highly-rated youngster Tom Carroll enhanced his claim to become a regular in the first-team this season as he scored the winner against Milan at the Allianz Arena and he will be hoping to have done enough to earn a start against the Red Devils.
