Transfer deadline day: West Ham set to announce signing of £3m Croatian striker

West Ham United are set to announce the signing of Nikica Jelavic from Hull City with images on social having emerged of the striker in a Hammers shirt.

Having spurned the chance to sign Javier Hernandez from Manchester United – who on Monday sealed a move to Bayer Leverkusen – following his ludicrous £90,000 goal bonus demand that West Ham refused to agree to, the east London outfit have focused their efforts on securing the signature of Jelavic.

And, it seems that the deal could be announced shortly, as BBC reporter Adam Bridge has tweeted a snap of the Croatia international in a West Ham shirt on the Upton Park pitch.

On Monday morning, Jelavic was in the English capital undergoing his medical with the Irons, which judging by this picture, appears to have been successful. The Guardian claim that the fee agreed is £3m.
