There had been growing speculation that the Hull City manager was to be offered a bumper £15 million contract to tempt him away from East Yorkshire.

Speculation regarding the future of his job is nothing new to Bruce though, he has both been tipped to succeed Alan Pardew as Newcastle United boss and questioned about the safety of his job following a 3-0 loss to the Magpies in quick succession.

When questioned about the rumoured Fulham offer Bruce was determined to give it as little time as possible and said that the claims were disrespectful to Fulham boss Kit Symons.

The Hull manager said, “I was getting the sack the day before, and then Fulham want me.

“Unfortunately with the media today I can’t do anything about it. The biggest problem I’ve got with the whole thing is they’ve got a manager in situ at Fulham and I’ve got huge respect for Kit who is new to the job.

“I can’t comment on it because if I comment on it it just fuels it even more, and as far as I’m concerned it’s rubbish journalism.”

The Tigers’ shock 1-1 draw away at Manchester City has provided a timely confidence boost for the side as the football season enters a pivotal stage.

It is possible Bruce could call in new signing Dame N’Doye and Nikica Jelavic into the starting XI for his side’s match at home to Aston Villa this Tuesday in a game which could be vital in the Premier League race for survival.
