Manchester City star planning end of season Etihad Stadium exit

Veteran Man City defender Martin Demichelis is considering a return to his native Argentina when the current season comes to a close according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 34-year-old centre-back moved to the Etihad Stadium two years ago but has slowly seen his first-team chances restricted by the arrivals of younger. more able, defensive options and the recent signing of fellow Argentine Nicolas Otamendi appears to have all but ended his chances of forging a meaningful role in Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

Demichelis’s Man City contract expires next summer and the South American is eyeing up a move to River Plate, the Buenos Aires side he represented from 1998 until his move to Bayern Munich in 2003.
