Liverpool great Steven Gerrard has urged his former teammate Raheem Sterling to improve his finishing in front of goal if he is to realise his potential at Man City.
The Citizens got their Champions League campaign off to a disappointing start on Tuesday evening when they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Juventus at the Etihad Stadium.
While the Citizens took the lead through a Giorgio Chiellini own goal, they were pegged back by Mario Mandzukic, before Alvaro Morata added the winner late on.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side could have extended their lead during the second half, but were let down by their finishing, with Sterling the key culprit.
The England international moved to the Etihad Stadium during the summer in one of the most high-profile moves of the transfer window. Having agitated for a move from Liverpool [Express], the forward has much to prove at his new club.
Despite impressing in pre-season, Sterling has found the net only once in four Premier League outings to date, and his finishing again came under scrutiny on Tuesday.
Sterling’s former teammate Gerrard—who also left Liverpool during the summer—has urged his ex-colleague to up his game.
