Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy has become the target of Premier League strugglers Newcastle United and Serie A giants Juventus after seeing his first-team chances restricted due to the superb run of form put in by youngster Hector Bellerin according to the Daily Mirror.
The 30-year-old French international arrived at the Emirates Stadium in a £12m deal in July 2014 and would have expected for be the North London side’s first choice starter at right-back.
However in September last year Debuchy damaged his ankle ligaments and was sidelined for three months, when the wide-man returned he dislocated his shoulder in January and spent another period out of contention.
During this time out 20-year-old Bellerin impressed sufficiently to stake his claim as Arsene Wenger’s preferred right-back and this has left Debuchy warming the bench.
Debuchy has started just one of Arsenal’s eight Premier League fixtures this season and a return to his former club Newcastle United may prove a more realistic option than a move to Italian champions Juventus.
Given that Wenger can call upon Calum Chambers to act as a very solid alternative to Bellerin, the Arsenal manager may consider offers for Debuchy in January.
