Man City transfer news: Argentina star’s future in doubt over contract issue

Martin Demichelis plans to wait until the end of the season before deciding whether or not to extend his Manchester City contract, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claim that the Argentine defender, who is still a regular member of Manuel Pellegrini’s first team, wants to consider his options next summer, when his current deal is set to expire.

“Next month I turn 35 so I have been in this business for quite a long time,’ the Daily Mail quote Demichelis as saying. “I have learned a lot in the past and what I have learned is that you need to live in the present, and enjoy your football.

“I am really enjoying my time here at City, playing with big players and for a club that is so ambitious, with such big objectives.

“We still have six or seven months of competition and then at the end of the season we will see what’s best for me and what’s best for the team. For the moment I am enjoying my football and am really proud to be part of this.”

Demichelis made his 14th senior appearance of the season on Saturday as City beat Southampton 3-1 to move back to the top of the Premier League table.
