Video: £30m South American Chelsea transfer target scores sloppy rabona

Chelsea transfer target Carlos Bacca opened the scoring with an interesting attempt at a rabona on Wednesday evening in Italian Cup action against Carpi.

AC Milan have been indifferent in Serie A so far this season, and have failed to truly find their form under Sinisa Mihajlovic. Thus, the cup represents a good opportunity for the Rossoneri to ease the pressure on the boss and demonstrate that there is at least some modicum of improvement going on at the San Siro.

On Wednesday evening they face top-flight minnows Carpi—who currently sit second bottom in Serie A—and know that should they advance, they’ll meet either Serie B Spezia or lower-league Alessandria in the semi-final.

They took the lead against Carpi inside the first quarter of an hour, when Colombia hitman Bacca rounded Zeljko Brkic in the away-team’s goal and hit a rabona into the back of the net. Well, ‘hit’ is perhaps a little misleading, as Bacca scuffed his effort and must have been relieved to see it finally cross the line.

The forward’s confidence and flair, however, should come as some encouragement for Chelsea fans, with the attacker being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport [via the Express], the Blues are plotting an eye-watering £30 million move to bring the hitman to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues certainly look like they could do with Bacca’s invention in the final third as they labour to a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion in west London.
