Barcelona unveil honorary Johan Cruyff kit for El Clasico

The passing of Johan Cruyff last week hit Barcelona as hard as anybody else, as they lost one of their greatest managers and an elite player as well. With El Clasico set to take place tomorrow, the La Liga giants plan to honour their fallen legend with a special commemorative kit to pay tribute to the innovative superstar.

Early on Friday morning, Barcelona unveiled a new kit which will be be worn by the players and put on sale for fans and supporters at the match with Real Madrid on Saturday. The kit reads ‘Gracies Johan’ (Thank you, Johan) in gold letters on the top red bar.

In addition, the club announced on their official website that they will be making several major tributes to Cruyff, including a four-day memorial in place and a mosaic made by the fans presented at the stadium.

The Dutch legend played five seasons at Barcelona from 1973 to 1978, winning the La Liga and Copa Del Ray titles in the process. He returned to the club as manager in 1988 and led the club for eight seasons, winning a club-record four La Liga titles, along with three Supercopa de Espana titles, the Copa Del Ray and several UEFA titles.
