Arsenal rejected again as West Brom turn down £16m bid for Johnny Evans

Arsenal suffered another transfer set back after Everton rejected a £16 million move for defender Johnny Evans according to Goal.

Per the source, the Baggies turned down the offer and told Arsenal that they must increase their bid if they want to recruit the experienced defender.

The North London based outfit have had a number of setbacks this summer in the transfer market failing to sign three targets Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Lacazette.

Arsenal are currently in the midst of a defensive crisis. Coupled with the fact that Laurent Koscielny will miss the start of the Premier League campaign after being given additional time off after Euro 2016, the Gunners outfit will have to rely on Calum Chambers and summer signing Rob Holding to start the season as Per Mertesacker and Gabriel are out injured.

Evans left Manchester United for the Baggies last year, making 30 Premier League appearances and forming an important part of Tony Pulis’ team before representing Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.
