Netherlands international fires parting shot at Sunderland

The Netherlands international Jeremain Lens has aimed parting at Sunderland ahead of his proposed move to Fenerbahce.

Sources close to the Turkish club have revealed to Caught-Offsides Eren Sarigul that Lens is set to undergo a medical in Istanbul and if successful, will join the Istanbul giants on a season-long loan deal.

Lens did however criticise Sunderland for their treatment of him when questioned by reporters. The 28-year-old was confused to why he was omitted from the Black Cats squad.

“Sunderland would just love to get rid of me,” Lens was quoted as saying by SkySports.

“I did not play, was not even on the bench. I just had a problem with the club. What? No idea.”

Lens touched down at the Atatürk airport and is expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal with the Istanbul giants tonight.

The Netherland international made the move to Sunderland just 12 months ago for £8m transfer according to SkySports. However, Lens made just 14 Premier League starts for the Black Cats.

Sunderland take on Everton on September 12 as they look to record their first win of the season.
