Man United devastated to miss out on English wonderkid again

Manchester United look like they will have to accept that their long pursuit of West Ham wonderkid Reece Oxford is over, with the Sun reporting that the West Ham youngster is set to sign a new deal at the East London club.

It follows months of speculation about the 17 year old’s future which has seen move to both Manchester clubs reported as almost done at various stages.

Now the word is that the midfielder will sign a new 5 year deal shortly after his 18th birthday on Friday.

After featuring as a 16 year old at the start of last season Oxford set plenty of tongues wagging with some strong performances, but we haven’t seen much of the rangy Englishman since.

Still, Slaven Bilic clearly saw enough from Oxford in those games to persuade him to commit large amount of time and resources to making sure he got his man tied down to a strong contract to protect him from advances from higher up the table.
