The Championship enters round 22 this weekend with the front runners, Newcastle and Brighton both on the road.

League leaders Newcastle beat Wigan 2-0 on Wednesday to reclaim top after losing it to Brighton 24 hours earlier.

This weekend Rafa Benitez’s side travel to face Burton Albion.

Burton themselves sit 4th from bottom and have picked up just four points from a possible 15 in their last 5 games.

They lost 1-0 at home to Huddersfield midweek and will not fancy their chances against a strong Magpies side as a relegation battle looms large.

Brighton meanwhile kept the pressure on midweek with a 3-2 win away to Blackburn as Chris Hughton;s side continue to battle it out with Newcastle at the top of the Championship.

They face another tricky task this weekend as they take on a bewildered Birmingham reeling from the surprise departure of manager Gary Rowett and the appointment of Gianfranco Zola.

The Blues sit 8th in the table with three wins from their last five games and it will be interesting to see how they approach the game with the new man in charge as football fans look on bewildered as to the appointment of the Italian.

Third place Reading are away to third from bottom Blackburn looking to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Leeds.

The win for Leeds kept them in the top 6 but with the likes of Huddersfield and in-form Derby also winning, Garry Monk’s side will need to continue their good run.

The Terriers added further worry for Norwich fans and Alex Neil by winning 2-1 at Carrow Road last night and there is now real pressure starting to build on the Canaries, who continue to free fall down the division.

Leeds themselves face Brentford at home on Saturday and will be chasing a fourth win in five games as they look to hang on to the remaining playoff place.

Derby are the form team in the division and have won each of their last five games as they continue on their upward curve following the arrival of Steve McClaren.

The Rams beat QPR 1-0 midweek to climb to 5th and face Fulham this weekend.

Fourth from bottom Cardiff with two wins and two draws in their last five games take on 12th place Barnsley while Nottingham Forest could potentially move into the top half of the table with a win over Wolves.

Elsewhere Wigan host Ipswich while Sheffield Wednesday face Rotherham.
