Barcelona still furious as misfit rejected €50m exit, snubbed stunning €18m-a-year deal

It’s fair to say that Arda Turan doesn’t seemingly have a future at Barcelona, as he has yet to make an appearance under Ernesto Valverde.

The Turkish international arrived at the Nou Camp in 2015 after a successful spell with rivals Atletico Madrid, and has scored 15 goals in 55 appearances for the Catalan giants.

However, Valverde doesn’t see much value in the 30-year-old it seems, while his teammates are doing a good job without him so far this season as they sit top of the La Liga table and their Champions League group.

Nevertheless, the club are reportedly still furious over the fact that Turan turned down the possibility of moving to China earlier this year in a move that would have fetched €50m for the Blaugrana, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Further, he would have been earned €18m-a-year in the Far East, and so from a financial perspective, it’s difficult to understand why the deal never went through.

That is excluding the desire to play for Barcelona and live in the city though, and that will surely have been the overriding factor for Turan, which is suggested in the report.

With his contract running until 2020, Barcelona’s frustration could be set to continue for some time yet unless he shows more personal ambition to play an important role elsewhere rather than sitting on the sidelines at the Nou Camp.

That will depend on whether or not the right offer arrives though, but with no role for him under Valverde, the ideal scenario for the club would seemingly be cashing in on him before it’s too late and then using those funds to further strengthen the squad to ensure that they are capable of sustaining their impressive start to the campaign.
