New striker for Arsenal, Man Utd exits: 10 transfer deals that look to be edging closer to completion

Transfer season is in full swing now, and we already have some high-profile deals that look close to completion.

We’ve seen official announcements of moves such as Antonio Rudiger’s from Chelsea to Real Madrid, and Ivan Perisic, who is on his way to Tottenham from Inter Milan.

So who could be next? We’ve put together ten players who, whilst not exactly on the brink of joining new clubs, seem likely to be finalising a transfer soon…

Paulo Dybala

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano in his latest transfer news column for CaughtOffside, Paulo Dybala is in advanced talks over a move to Inter Milan.

The Argentina international has had a fine career at Juventus, but will be a free agent this summer after running down his contract with the Turin giants.

Now, however, it looks like Dybala will be making the controversial switch to Juve’s rivals Inter, with something concrete perhaps looking likely soon as negotiations reach an advanced stage.

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba to return to Juventus?

Another free agent this summer, Paul Pogba could be about to return to Juventus after Manchester United recently confirmed the Frenchman’s departure.

Pogba has been at Old Trafford for six years since leaving Juve for Manchester in a big-money move, and now he’ll possibly head back there for free, according to the Daily Mail.

This isn’t done yet, but all signs point towards Pogba being unveiled as a new Juventus player in the very near future.

Nemanja Matic

Man Utd also look set to bid farewell to Nemanja Matic, who, like Pogba, seems set for a free transfer to an Italian club this summer.

It seems that the Serbia international is on his way to link up with former manager Jose Mourinho again at Roma, according to Di Marzio.

Matic looks a solid signing as a free agent, and an ideal experienced figure to come in and help Mourinho build on a strong first season at the Stadio Olimpico.

Ousmane Dembele

This is certainly a big summer for free agents, and Ousmane Dembele could be another one whose future is close to being resolved.

See below as Ben Jacobs claims Chelsea have been in contact over a move, and that they could now be in a stronger position for the France international’s signature due to developments at Paris Saint-Germain…

Thomas Tuchel needs to make changes to his attack, and a reunion with former Borussia Dortmund man Dembele seems ideal for all involved.

Raphinha

If Dembele is poised to quit Barcelona, it makes sense that the club now seem to be stepping up efforts to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha as his replacement.

According to SportBarcelona director Mateu Alemany is on his way for a meeting to discuss the deal, so we could see major developments soon.

Most transfer gossip suggests it’s only rally the Catalan giants pursuing Raphinha strongly, so unless we see a late twist here this one is surely only a matter of time.

Gabriel Jesus

This one has been doing the rounds for a while, and now Football Insider claim that Gabriel Jesus has agreed terms with Arsenal.

The Manchester City striker looks ideal for the Gunners’ needs, and this sounds like a major step towards getting the move done.

There’s also this little teaser from Gabriel Martinelli yesterday…

Is Martinelli hinting at Jesus joining him at Arsenal?

Darwin Nunez

Dean Jones is tipping Darwin Nunez to be closing in on a move to Manchester United, telling Give Me Sport: “One source described this deal to United to me as being ‘extremely close’. They consider Atletico Madrid as their main rivals to sign him, from what I hear, but obviously, loads around Europe are looking. If Darwin does move to Old Trafford, it will be a brilliant signing for the Ten Hag era.”

The Benfica striker is certainly an exciting talent and it would be some statement if MUFC could beat other top clubs to his signature even when they can’t offer him Champions League football next season.

Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich are digging their heels in over this one, but could Robert Lewandowski force a move anyway?

Bild have a report on the want-away Poland international possibly making use of the so-called Webster Clause to get himself out of the Allianz Arena, which could speed things along if it works out.

Only time will tell just how important a development this is, but Lewandowski’s agent has also been very public about his client’s desire to leave Bayern, so it’s hard to see this ending any other way.

Aurelien Tchouameni

Real Madrid are now closing in on a transfer deal for in-demand Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The 22-year-old is a huge talent who’s attracted plenty of headlines in recent weeks and months, but it seems increasingly likely that the Bernabeu will be his next destination.

After winning La Liga and the Champions League last season, Madrid are truly building a great team if Tchouameni joins their squad as well.

Ryan Gravenberch

As per Fabrizio Romano, a deal taking Dutch wonderkid Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax to Bayern Munich looks to be basically done…

Romano has said this will be official soon, and it could end up being one of the finest under-the-radar signings of the summer.
