Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing – Chelsea transfer disagreement, Man United’s forward talks, and more

Hello guys and welcome to my latest Daily Briefing – a round-up of my exclusive transfer news stories, with updates on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bernardo Silva, and more!

Ajax

Talks will take place in the next few days over Jay Gorter’s future. He could leave Ajax for more playing time, provided the right opportunity comes along.

Arsenal

Edu and Mikel Arteta are still open to further signings, but are working on under-the-radar targets for the moment.

Done deal: Runar Alex Runarsson has completed his loan move to Antalyaspor. Further departures are also a priority for Arsenal, including terminating the contract of Hector Bellerin as he looks to return to Spain.

Atletico Madrid

Despite interest from Manchester United, Matheus Cunha is settled at Atletico Madrid, who won’t sell for the touted €50m asking price.

Barcelona

Barcelona manager Xavi is obsessed with signing Bernardo Silva from Manchester City, but the deal is complicated for a variety of reasons. No agreement yet.

Bernardo Silva in action for Manchester City

Chelsea are not keen on paying Barca’s asking price for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, despite Thomas Tuchel being personally keen to work with his former player.

Marcos Alonso is one step away from completing his move to the Nou Camp, but that deal remains separate from Aubameyang for the moment.

Alex Collado has left Barcelona on loan, he has just signed the contract to join Elche until June 2023, no buy option included.

Celtic

There were clubs interested in Georgios Giakoumakis after his impressive form at Celtic. There have been approaches from Premier League clubs in the last few days, but he’s happy where he is and Celtic have absolutely no intention to sell him: he’s considered untouchable.

Chelsea

Chelsea are edging closer to signing Cesare Casadei. Personal terms have been agreed on a six-year deal, with potential moves to Nice and Sassuolo now off. Next official bid will be the right one to complete the deal for €15m plus add-ons. Chelsea are increasingly confident about this one.

West Ham are interested in Emerson Palmieri and he’d be open to joining, but Chelsea want more than the £10m the Hammers are preparing to offer. The Blues also turned down a loan offer from Nice earlier in the summer.

Flamengo

Former Chelsea star Oscar had been set to join Flamengo and even posed with the club shirt, but the move is now off. Shanghai SIPG didn’t sign the final documents and so decided against verbal agreement, even though the player was ready to move.

Getafe

Getafe are closing on Jorge Cuenca in a temporary move. They’re hopeful to reach a full agreement this week. Negotiations are progressing well, with Villarreal ready to accept the loan offer.

Juventus

Talks ongoing over signing Leandro Paredes from Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine agreed personal terms a few days ago – he wants the move to Juve, they’re the only team he wants to join. The sale of Adrien Rabiot looks like being a key step to getting this signing done.

Leeds United

Despite speculation to the contrary, Leeds have not submitted any offers for Ismaila Sarr or Juan Mata as things stand. They are following Willy Gnonto as potential future talent since long time, but will only move in the transfer market if the right opportunities come along.

Manchester City

Bernardo Silva will be respectful to Manchester City, but is eager to get his move to Barcelona. Xavi is desperate to work with him, but there’s no agreement yet. Player sales could be necessary to fund the move for the Portuguese playmaker, who won’t be cheap.

Manchester United

Matheus Cunha celebrates a goal for Brazil

Erik ten Hag wants more signings at Manchester United – the mood is negative at the club right now, and more changes to the squad had been expected by this point.

Matheus Cunha‘s agents have held talks with Man United like many other players offered to the Red Devils around Europe, but Atletico Madrid will not accept €50m as fee. In my opinion Matheus is a future top player, it would be a smart deal for United, but it won’t be easy.

James Garner is attracting interest from 3-4 Premier League clubs and has a good chance of leaving Manchester United. His agents are working on a move, though my understanding is that Tottenham looks an unlikely destination for the moment.

Newcastle United

Newcastle have had an opening offer for Watford’s Joao Pedro rejected. My understanding is that the first proposal was £20m plus £3m in add-ons. Newcastle will keep on pushing for the player.

PSG

PSG continue to look for solutions to the Mauro Icardi situation. He’s been offered to top clubs this summer, including Arsenal, though they focused instead on signing Gabriel Jesus.

Sevilla

Sevilla are in advanced talks to sign Tanguy Nianzou from Bayern Munich. He’s become their top target. Negotiations ongoing over the centre-back, with Sevilla hopeful of getting the deal done this week.

Tottenham

Spurs have accepted Napoli’s proposal for Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman will join for a €1m loan fee, with the option to make the move permanent for €30m. It’s now up to the player, with final details on personal terms being sorted, and then it will be done.

Tottenham are unlikely to sign James Garner, despite the player’s representatives working on getting him out of Manchester United, with 3-4 Premier League clubs interested.

West Ham

West Ham are ready to pay over £10m to sign Emerson Palmieri, but Chelsea want more than that. It’s currently quiet from Nice’s end, as they tried for a loan move, but Todd Boehly only wants to sell.

West Ham continue to push to sign Thilo Kehrer. PSG are hopeful of selling the defender this week.

Wolves

Wolves are closing in on a €45m deal plus €5m in add-ons for Matheus Nunes. The club are hopeful of completing the deal this week, in what would be their club-record purchase. I’ve written before about why I think Liverpool could have done well to sign the 23-year-old.
