€42m player set to undergo medical before signing for Arsenal

The summer transfer window has already been quite the success for Arsenal, with only a successful medical standing in the way of the club announcing another big-name signing.

Kai Havertz has already signed from Chelsea, and only an agreement on payment structure is holding up the Declan Rice record-breaking deal from being concluded.

The Gunners board once again need to be given appropriate credit for fully backing Mikel Arteta as he goes after his targets, in the hope that a squad with a little more strength in depth can run Man City, or any other pretenders to their Premier League crown, even closer in the 2023/24 campaign.

Although negotiations for Rice are still ongoing, that hasn’t stopped the club from working away in the background on other deals.

Indeed, according to De Telegraaf, Ajax star, Jurrien Timber, is soon expected to become a new Arsenal player.

The outlet note that both clubs agreed on a transfer fee of approximately €42m on Thursday night which will increase to €47m with add-ons.

If former Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag, was hoping to get the star for Man United, he’s been beaten to the punch, and that has to be a worry for the Red Devils who remain somewhat hamstrung in the transfer market whilst their takeover issues remain ongoing.

From Arsenal’s perspective, it’s yet another sign that Arteta is building a team both for the present and the future.
