€42m player set to undergo medical before signing for Arsenal

The summer transfer window has already been quite the success for Arsenal, with only a successful medical standing in the way of the club announcing another big-name signing.

Kai Havertz has already signed from Chelsea, and only an agreement on payment structure is holding up the Declan Rice record-breaking deal from being concluded.

The Gunners board once again need to be given appropriate credit for fully backing Mikel Arteta as he goes after his targets, in the hope that a squad with a little more strength in depth can run Man City, or any other pretenders to their Premier League crown, even closer in the 2023/24 campaign.

Although negotiations for Rice are still ongoing, that hasn’t stopped the club from working away in the background on other deals.

Indeed, according to De Telegraaf, Ajax star, Jurrien Timber, is soon expected to become a new Arsenal player.

The outlet note that both clubs agreed on a transfer fee of approximately €42m on Thursday night which will increase to €47m with add-ons.

If former Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag, was hoping to get the star for Man United, he’s been beaten to the punch, and that has to be a worry for the Red Devils who remain somewhat hamstrung in the transfer market whilst their takeover issues remain ongoing.

From Arsenal’s perspective, it’s yet another sign that Arteta is building a team both for the present and the future.

  1. After the acquisition Rice, the next target should be a natural #8 in the mould of Gundogun, McAllister, Henderson, Kroos, Guimaraes, I mean a creative, physical and a goal scoring midfielder or else we should go all out for Romeo Lavia because despite him being a defensive midfielder and his young age, he is composed and has an eye for a dangerous pass from deep midfield. This can allow Rice play a more advanced role of the men I mentioned above. Partey in particular should not let go.

  2. Echo those thoughts !! When you play the likes of Brighton never mind the big boys ?? We lacked the creative midfielder that could unlock those defences . Fab signings !!!

  3. So far I think it’s good for the arrivals that we have now, but still haven’t reached city’s level coz if partey is departing who will be the backup for Rice. So in conclusion, Partey should stay with Rice and Jorginho to backup each other in case of any injury.

  4. Good additions so far and kudos to the Board for supporting and believing in M.A. However, if we truly want to be a top contender for the epl, champions league and other trophies next season, we need a quality striker that will guarantee 20+ goals a session. That was one of the club’s undoing last season, there are games we could have seen through but we lacked a good finisher. Man City has a reliable hand in Haaland, Spurs has Kane and Liverpool has Nunez. Gabriel Jesus is a quality player with an outstanding work rate but he is not a good finished compared to other No. 9 in the league top 6. Nketiah also cannot be relied upon do deliver at the topmost level. Vlahovic would have been ideal for me or any goal poacher from the top leagues around europe, I’m sure the club scout can work around that. Gunner 4 Life!

  5. Great targets for the Gunners. Hoping that they will be value for money come next season. I also feel releasing Partey and Xhaka at once is not a great idea. We need to maintain the culture and momentum from last season. For me, Partey should remain to support the new-buys considering next season will be busier with the Champion’s league.
