Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup wishes to continue the Spanish contingent he has built by signing Queens Park Rangers midfielder Esteban Granero according to the Daily Mirror.

The reported fee for the 26 year-old is just £2.5million as Harry Redknapp looks to sell overpaid flops – such as Chris Samba who returned to Anzhi already this summer for £12million. Although, the want away midfielder is supposedly in talks with the Welsh clubs, various other clubs (such as Liga BBVA side Real Betis) eye the former Real Madrid youngster.

Michael Laudrup will look to tie up a deal with the Championship club and the player as quick as possible, as Esteban does not wish to play in the second tier of English football next season.

“The two clubs are talking about, it’s true,” Carlo Cutropia [Esteban Granero’s agent] told Tuttomercatoweb.

“[Michael] Laudrup knows him very well from Getafe, where together they had a great Uefa Cup campaign.

“Swansea are also looking at many Spanish players and to play in Europe next year, the destination would be absolutely acceptable to Esteban.”

The Swans appear to have got all their business done early as Granero will become the eighth player to sign for the Welsh side this summer, as deals for Wilfried Bony, Jonjo Shelvey, Alejandro Pozuelo, Alex Gogic, Gregor Zabret, Jordi Amat and Jose Canas were concluded, alongside another season long loan of Dutch midfielder Jonathan De Guzman, who impressed at the Liberty Stadium throughout last season – scoring twice in the Capital One Cup final. Only Mark Gower (permanently) and Kyle Bartley (loan) have left the club this summer as Laudrup looks to establish his side in Europe this coming year.
