Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed that goalkeeper Julio Cesar is now likely to stay at QPR after speaking to Harry Redknapp, the Daily Mail reports.

Following the club’s relegation last season the Loftus Road side had been keen to move the player on in a bid to slash their wage bill. However, speaking at a press conference to announce his squad to face Australia and Portugal, Brazil coach Scolari said: ‘Julio has resolved his matters with the club.

“Hypothetically, we know where he will play this season. We’ve talked to him, reaffirmed our trust in him during this week after we talked to his club.

“We have called him up again because by the end of the transfer window, his situation will be resolved, with him staying on with QPR. After that it will be up to his manager to play him or not.”

Cesar joined the club last summer from Serie A giants Inter Milan for a reported fee of around £15 million after spending six years with the Italians.

Despite some good performances last term, his 26 appearances wasn’t enough to keep the club in the top flight and he had been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Fiorentina.
