Arsenal are said to be lining up a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to rebuild his squad to ensure that they don’t fall short of yet another title challenge.

The Belgian international followed David Moyes to the club from Everton last summer in a £27.5m deal, but he has struggled to live up to that price tag as both injuries and a loss of form have prevented him from performing in a United shirt.

But with David Moyes now gone, and the club keen to overhaul their squad, with up to 12 players being shown the exit door this summer Fellaini’s position at the club is no longer certain.

And CaughtOffside understands that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is now plotting a return for the 26-year-old as he looks to beef up his midfield options ahead of next season.

Wenger has persistently been left unhappy with the form of several of his midfield stars this term, namely Mikel Arteta, who the Frenchman may look to move on in the near future.

Wenger had been keen on Fellaini last summer, but conceded defeat early on after it was announced that David Moyes would be heading to Old Trafford and would be taking the midfielder with him.

However, after just 24 appearances in all competitions this season, the Red Devils are hoping to recoup as much of the original outlay for him and are open to negotiating over sensible offers.

Upon hearing this Wenger is prepared to put an £18m offer on the table as he feels that is Fellaini’s true valuation, even after a difficult campaign.
