The Old Trafford side have made official contact with Blind’s Eredivisie side as Louis van Gaal looks to bring in a member of his World Cup squad.
Barcelona and Liverpool are both said to be keen on the 24 year old though Blind is hoping to work with van Gaal though Ajax’s demand for £20m may prove something of an obstacle.
Blind is effective in both left-back and defensive midfield roles and having spent his entire professional career at Ajax the Amsterdam born star appears keen on a fresh challenge.
Daley Blind has completed six seasons in the Ajax first team set-up and has won four successive domestic titles and even though Man United do not have Champions League to offer this coming season it’s a move that will still serve to aid the player’s career progression.
Van Gaal may see Blind as a player to challenge youngster Luke Shaw in the left-back role but could perhaps be more likely to force his way into Man United’s starting eleven in a midfield role.
Man United have thus far spent just over £55m to bring in the aforementioned Shaw and Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera.
