The news was broken on Thursday morning by respected Gazzetta Dello Sport journalist Tancredi Palmeri, who took to Twitter to confirm the story.

United have been chasing the Chilean international ever since Louis Van Gaal took over from David Moyes at Old Trafford, though the deal has stretched out into somewhat of a saga.

Juventus themselves are looking to make some strong additions to their own side as they hope to make an improved challenge for the Champions League, having lost out in the group stage to Galatasaray last season.

The Italians have already snapped up Patrice Evra from United, though it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will look at the deal as good business.

Despite earmarking the three players as ones that can leave this summer, they will undoubtedly lose money on just handing them over to Allegri.
