Certain clubs are synonymous with certain songs – Liverpool’s ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ being the most obvious British example. Has the MLS now latched onto the idea?

New England Revolution have a good claim to being the first side in the US that have a well-known song that’s synonymous with the club.

Soft rock classic ‘Africa’ by Toto – from 1982 – has become their anthem of choice.

The craze started because Dave Campopiano, the side’s Marketing Manager, was told that he could play a single song at half-time of the team’s home game against the Colorado Rapids in late July.

Africa was chosen, and has since been adopted by the entire club as their tune.

The fans even made a massive fan with the lyrics adorned.
