Arsene Wenger’s side will welcome the Bundesliga side to the Emirates this week, with the pair set to go head to head in the Champions League.

Arsenal and Dortmund were set to battle it out for the highly coveted top spot in Group D, but the Gunners’ collapse against Anderlecht in the last round saw them drop two points and practically gift the Germans first place.

Wilshere and Szczesny will almost certainly be unavailable for the clash though, after both players went off injured against Manchester United at the weekend.

The English midfielder is believed to have a soft tissue sprain in his ankle, which although not serious does need to be rested.

And Arsenal’s Polish shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny sprained his hip in a collision with Kieran Gibbs, and will be rested as a precaution.

With David Ospina also out injured, this will mean starting with third choice keeper Emiliano Martinez.
