Worrying times for Australia ahead of January’s Asian Cup…

Australia have dropped out of the top 100 of FIFA’s world rankings for the first time ever after a disappointing post-World Cup period.

The Socceroos have slipped a further eight rankings to a record-low of 102 and comes a month after a fall to a then-low of 94.

Whilst it’s true that FIFA’s rankings system is dubious at best, results have been poor for the Socceroos over the past year and will come as a cause of concern ahead of January’s Asian Cup, to be played on home soil.

Japan are the top ranked team in Asia after defeating the Socceroos 2-1 in Osaka earlier this month.
