The Melbourne Victory come into the game on the back of its first loss of the season against crosstown rivals Melbourne City and will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Newcastle.
Kevin Muscat’s side were off-colour against City, and there’s little chance the Victory boss will allow a repeat performance.
Newcastle on the other hand finally got its first win of the season last week over FFA Cup winners Adelaide United.
There’s no doubt Adelaide were suffering the after-effects of its FFA Cup final win over Perth, but the Jets looked a complete different side to the one that opened the season so poorly.
It’s still going to be a big ask for Phil Stubbins’ men to get out of AAMI Park with the three points, but the Jets have proved to be a bogey side for the Victory.
