The £22m rated wide-man, who is currently the top-scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie, is a player Louis van Gaal knows well from his time in charge of the Netherlands and this may well be fueling speculation of a move to the Premier League side.
Liverpool and Tottenham are also known to be keen on Depay but this source states that United are making ‘strong progress’ in their pursuit of the 21 year old.
Given the poor form shown by club record signing Angel di Maria it is perhaps unsurprising that United would be looking at signing another winger and given Depay’s current form, 22 goals this term, a move for the Dutch international seems entirely plausible.
Van Gaal showed great faith in Depay at last summer’s World Cup finals, selecting the attacker in crucial clashes, the starlet repaying that faith with two goals at the tournament.
