Incredible stat shows Man United’s Anthony Martial scoring faster than Cristiano Ronaldo did at his age

Rarely do comparisons to the incomparable Cristiano Ronaldo have any weight to them, but a fascinating stat about Man United starlet Anthony Martial really puts into perspective how well the French wonderkid is performing right now.

Utd Headlines revealed on Twitter that Martial’s fifth goal of the season, which he recorded against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, was achieved in far fewer games than it took Cristiano Ronaldo when he was a 19-year-old playing for Man United.

Martial scored his fifth goal in just his ninth match in all competitions for Man United. But it took Ronaldo almost 40 to achieve the same mark.

In the final hours of the 2015 summer transfer window, Man United made a controversial move to sign Martial from AS Monaco for the largest transfer fee ever made for a teenager. Martial would justify the move in his first two games for Louis van Gaal, scoring a goal in his first match ever and recording a brace the following week.

To date, Martial is currently tied for the club lead with three Premier League goals and ranks second behind Wayne Rooney’s six in total goals.
