Bayern Munich star linked with £40m move to Man City

Manchester City have been linked with a £40 million move for Bayern Munich star David Alaba according to the Sun.

Per the source, City boss Pep Guardiola has opened talks and club officials have met with representatives of the 24-year-old over the past fortnight.

City are not expected to sign Alaba over the winter transfer window but are working on clinching a deal for next season.

Guardiola is reported to have instructed the club to sign new full-backs on both the left and right side of defence. The City boss was disappointed with the errors made by his full-backs against Everton in Saturday’s draw in the Premier League.

Alaba has worked under the stewardship of Guardiola in the past during the Spanish managers time in charge of Bayern.

The Sun report that Guardiola considers Alaba as the best left back in the world but he did sign a new five-year deal with Bayern back in March which could complicate City’s transfer efforts.
