Former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has announced his retirement from football as he looks set to now embark on a possible coaching career.
The 36-year-old announced that he would be leaving LA Galaxy last week after opting to move to the USA almost two years ago following a glittering spell at Anfield.
Having made over 700 appearances for the club and won two FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League in 2005 along with countless individual accolades, Gerrard will go down as an all-time Reds legend for what he contributed to the club over almost two decades.
Further, he collected 114 caps for England as he established himself as a mainstay in the Three Lions midfield for several years.
It remains to be seen what he does next as a coaching career looks likely, although as a regular on BT Sport, a future in punditry could also be an option.
While he will now consider his options, the tributes have been pouring in on social media as supporters, former teammates and broadcasters have all paid tribute to Gerrard’s career.

It was not simply his ability, the passing and goals, and his athleticism. It was Gerrard's will to win & team-mindedness that set him apart
