The Sun today gives us an exclusive, apparently Newcastle owner Mike Ashley tried to sell the club to Dubai Investment Capital. While DIC were sniffing around Liverpool, Ashley contacted the consortium through an intermediary to say that Newcastle would be available for £300million, but he failed to turn DIC’s heads.
As part of The Sun’s exclusive they managed to dig up a Newcastle ‘insider’ who revealed:
“If Ashley is serious about selling there will be plenty of interest — but possibly not at the price.”
So should Ashley cut and run?
