Did he mean to say one more year instead?! Liverpool have had decent starts to the season before, only for them to start stuttering as it gets near Christmas. However, Saturday’s 2-0 win at Bolton demonstrated that the Reds are made of stern stuff this season, could it really be their year at long last?
Fernando Torres reckons that they can be taken seriously as title challengers, if they’re still in a lofty position come December. Sporting Life reports that the Spaniard is taking the Premier League far more seriously than the Champions League, thus echoing the majority of supporters’ opinions.
“If you are still up there by December, then you have serious options of staying there. The big name sides rarely slip up, especially during the first half of the season. If you fall too far behind, you leave yourself very few, if any options.
“The Premier League is the title which everyone wants, even more than the Champions League, especially considering that the club lifted the title three seasons ago.
“The players who have been at the club for longer have won every title possible apart from the Premier League, and the players and also especially the fans want to win it.
“If they had to decide between the two, they choose the Premier League.”
It’s not long until the month of December, and Liverpool have dropped just seven points from their thirteen matches to date. They have beaten Chelsea and Manchester United already, while demonstrating on several occasions that they can win without being at their best. Have supporters started to dream of a title-winning season, or is it too good to be true?
