Lille Defender To Snub Liverpool Transfer Prospect

Defender reportedly on the verge of a move to Spanish side Valencia.

Lille defender Aurelien Chedjou is reportedly set to turn down a move to the Premier League according to talkSport.

The centre-back has been strongly linked with a move to England after some highly impressive performances for the Ligue 1 side.

Chedjou has been a rock the back for the 2011 French Champions as he has helped them on their way into contention for a Champions League qualification spot.

The likes of Liverpool and Newcastle have both been strongly linked with the player in recent weeks.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was reportedly keen on bringing Chedjou to Anfield as he prepares for life without the retiring Jamie Carragher and the future of Slovakian centre back Martin Skrtel remaining uncertain.

Newcastle were hoping to tempt Chedjou to St. James’ Park by offering him the chance to join up with the club’s growing contingent of players who have previously plied their trade in the French top flight.

But it now seems both clubs are set to miss out on the player’s signature with reports suggesting Chedjou is close to agreeing a move to Spanish side Valencia.

The teams are expected to conclude negotiations in the coming weeks which could pave the way for an exit from Valencia for Arsenal target Adil Rami.
