Russian side ready to make sensational bid to bring back powerful centre back.
Anzhi Makhachkala are missing Chris Samba and want to bring him back to the club according to The Daily Star.
The 29 year old defender left the wealthy Russian side in January to join Harry Redknapp’s QPR. Redknapp had hoped that his winter signings such as Samba and Loic Remy, would galvanise his squad into avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
But that now looks almost impossible with QPR ten points away from safety with just five games remaining.
It would take almost a miracle now for the club to stay up and QPR officials know that they are going to have to sell some of their high profile players come the summer.
Now Anzhi look ready to bring Samba back to Russia just months after he left the club in a £12.5 million deal.
Anzhi were never keen on selling Samba but were powerless to resist after QPR met a buyout clause in the player’s contract.
When he left Anzhi, Samba stated he had been the victim of racist abuse from opposition fans during his time in Russia but that was not enough to stop him “thoroughly enjoying” his time in the country.
Anzhi may well have a chance of signing the centre backs as they are one of the few clubs in the world who would be willing and able to match Samba’s current £100,000 a week pay deal.
