Brazilian wonderkid set for summer meeting with Catalan giants.
Barcelona are thought to be closing in on the signature of Santos wonderkid Neymar according to Goal.com.
The Brazilian striker is one of the hottest properties in the world currently after a number of impressive performances for his club and the Brazilian national team.
The player was thought to be biding his time over a move with many in his homeland seeking to persuade him to stay with Santos until after next summer’s World Cup finals tournament in Brazil.
Neymar was thought to be open to the idea of extending his stay with Santos but the striker now looks set for summer talks with Spanish giants Barcelona.
The 21 year old is reportedly coming round to the idea of making the move to Europe as he increasingly looks to test himself at the highest level.
Neymar’s Brazilian compatriots Dani Alves and Adriano have both urged him to join them at the Nou Camp.
Reports in recent months have suggested that Neymar may have already signed a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona but that has been denied by both club and player.
Manchester City’s director of football stated his belief that the player’s services are still available but it appears that Barcelona are in pole position to sign the player.
A source close to the player said, “Neymar will play at the Confederations Cup this summer and will then take a one-week holiday. He will travel to Barcelona on July 9.”
