‘Keeper wants to end career with Liverpool.
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has admitted that he would love to finish his career at the club, The Express reports.
The 30-year-old had been linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer after a string of disappointing performances had suggested that he had grown stale at the club. Both Barcelona and Arsenal are said to have been interested in acquiring his services, though the Spaniard moved to quash their hopes by signalling his intent to stay with Liverpool
In a Q&A Twitter session, the goalkeeper stated his confidence at extending his current deal even further.
“It would be a nice history to be here more than twelve or thirteen years, why not?” he said.
“I’ve got three more years so I’ll be around for at least three more years I guess and then it depends on Liverpool.”
Reina joined Liverpool in 2005 from Spanish side Villarreal and has gone on to make nearly 300 appearances for the club. And despite his patchy form this term he has still managed to keep 15 clean sheets across all competitions, a record that has prompted Brendan Rodgers to stick by him when most were calling for him to be dropped.
