Santos reject offer from Barca for star striker.
Neymar’s proposed move to Barcelona could be on hold after his club Santos have revealed they have rejected an offer from the Catalan giants, according to Sky Sports.
The Brazilian striker is rated as one of the best young talents in the world, and is being chased by both Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer in what will surely be a big-money move.
A move to Barcelona looked to be close to completion last week, but Neymar could still move elsewhere or stay at Santos, as the club’s vice-president Odilio Rodrigues told Brazilian radio that the current offer from Barcelona is not good enough.
“There is no agreement for Neymar,” he said. “There are talks, I met [Barcelona’s president Sandro] Rosell and [Barcelona’s sporting director] Raul Sanllehi last week.
“We had a very frank conversation. Talks need to continue because the offer was not good enough.”
Rodrigues added that they are waiting for an offer from Barca’s rivals Real, but that he does not know yet which club Neymar himself will choose.
“We know Real Madrid will make an offer too,” he added.
“Neymar will choose the team he wants, it’s Neymar’s opinion that is important.”
Both clubs are being linked with big moves in the transfer market this summer, though Real Madrid fans recently voted for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale as their preferred target over Neymar. The Welsh winger has been linked with a £65million move to the Bernebeu.
